Oncology (Pet Cancer Care)

Neil E. Palmer. BVSc, MSc (Clin Onc) MRCVS

The oncology team comprises Neil Palmer, Kirsty Chippendale RVN and Jenna Carrick RVN. Neil attained his Masters degree in clinical oncology with distinction from the University of Birmingham in 2014.

His particular interest is in reconstructive su rgery andthe use of chemotherapy in both the adjuvant and neo-adjuvant settings. Kirsty achieved her foundation degree in veterinary nursing in 2010 and has her advanced Nursing diploma.

The expansion of the facilities at Abbey House in 2017 has allowed the creation of a dedicated oncology suite for the delivery of surgical and medical cancer treatments.

The complex includes patient prep room, containment chamber, chemotherapy room, operating theatre and kennels for six inpatients.

It is removed from the main centre of the practice creating a calm and undisturbed environment for our patients who often make multiple visits to the hospital and may not be in the best of health.

The calm atmosphere is supported by dedicated and sympathetic nursing care. Onsite CT and a regularly visiting MRI scanner means that we can offer the best in staging and planning.

Though the treatments we offer are advanced, if required we can arrange tertiary referrals for radiotherapy.

Please visit our “Pet Cancer Care” section on the website and our “Pet Cancer Care” Facebook page for more information.
