The visiting MRI scanner

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a type of scan that uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to produce detailed images of inside the body. It is used to examine the brain, spinal cord, bones and joints, heart and blood vessels and all internal organs.

Burgess Diagnosis is a company that provided mobile MRI scanners for human hospitals initially but for the last eight years has supplied them to the veterinary industry as well. A 14 metre truck with it’s own radiographer visits the hospital in Morley on a regular basis. MRI is completely painless but is very noisy and the patients have to lie still for between 30 - 60 minutes so an anaesthetic is required.
