Our Employees
Abbey House currently employs approximately 70 people across 4 branch clinics.

We do occasionally need to recruit new members of the team and we have many different types of jobs within the organisation.

Vets
We currently employee 11 vets in full time and part time positions and in addition we have regular locum vets who work for us when we need help covering for holidays, illness or for those attending training courses. All vets have to be registered with and members of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS) before they engage in any type of veterinary work in the United Kingdom.

Nurses
We have 15 qualified Veterinary Nurses (VN’s) within the practice. Abbey House has a strong culture for training and development and for many years has been a large training centre for VN’s. The Head and Deputy Head Nurse both have their Certificate in Education (Cert Ed) qualifications and have previously taught on the veterinary nurse training program. We currently have 4 student nurses at college and 3 trainee nurses waiting to start and we are proud of our excellent pass rate. The RCVS is currently in the process of changing the nurse training and examination structure but Abbey House is committed to continuing the training of veterinary nurses.

Receptionists
We currently employee 30 receptionists, the majority of those being part time positions to help us provide an excellent quality of customer service.
Some of the receptionists are trained as animal handlers so they can help vets and clients in consultations if needed, this is especially helpful at the branch clinics.

Cleaners
We are proud to have our own in house cleaning team, positions are part time and are generally in the evenings.

Work Experience/Vet students
We often have people who want to come and experience what it is like in a veterinary hospital. We try and accommodate as many placements as we can, but unfortunately there is an age restriction and we can not accept any one below the age of 16 to do work experience.
